BIO & C.V.

That the simplest geometric forms elicit deep emotions fascinates me. I am obsessed with the idea of telling stories through the combination of geometry and color.

I marvel at the ability written words have to make us travel anywhere in space and time.  I start a painting by drawing 1 or 2 shapes inspired by memories of a literary work or a recent dream. Putting these down on canvas compels me to add color and other shapes, and before I know it, a story has started to develop before me.

There always is a difference between a narrator’s intended message and the listeners’ interpretations. Hearing what viewers see in my paintings is an experience that never ceases to teach me something new.

Biographical Information

Guillermo Bublik is an Argentinian/American painter now based in New Jersey.   His works, usually described as highly kinetic,  are easily recognizable by their bold combinations of colors and abstract geometric forms.

He started painting in late 2018, upon retiring from a 30 year career in technical fields.   Without an academic training in painting techniques, his works transmit a strong sense of playfulness and a distinct feeling of joyous exploration.

Shortly after moving to New Jersey Guillermo was a recipient of the Eileen Kaminsky Family Foundation Artist Residency at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, NJ, award.
